6 - WHAT WAS CONCLUDED FROM THE TEST?

  • The seedlings grew very well in shifting cultivation plots.
  • It was not too labor-intensive to keep the seedlings free from weeds.

The plants grew quite well in pasture, but not as well as in shifting cultivation plots.
  • In pasture, two things need special care:

1 - a sturdy fence, and

2 - weeding, so that weeds do not take over the area.

  • In forest gaps, seedlings grew slowly.
  • However, there was no need for hard work to keep the seedlings free from weeds

After the experiment, it was clear that in shifting cultivation plots there was good soil, plenty of water and a lot of sunshine.

Therefore, the seedlings developed better in shifting cultivation plots than in any other area.
